I don't drink sugary beverages (tea, coffee, I prefer juice without added sugar, fruit drinks also with absolute minimum of sugar etc. My perfect drink is mineral water with added flavour without sugar) and I only drink enough water at summer. I just hate warm water, it needs to be cold to taste alright. And you don't drink cold water if it's freezing outside. Also tap water is not that good here, boiled water is plainly fucking disgusting. Not even all filtered water tastes good.

Whoops, I guess so. The film did not make much of an impression on me, as I'm sure you can tell.

No. Somethings should be suppressed. If we'd not given Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson's ideas airtime twenty years ago, we wouldn't be in half the mess we are.

Water on its own tastes horrible.

Wow, it is wild to me that someone bothers to listen to legality in their private reading. Anyway. I don't think that fics with added illustrations are that common?
And usually fanart is tagged. You can exclude it

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Homicidally possessive? I kept seeing it applied to girls like Sakura from Naruto, who have a huge crush on a particular boy, that everyone knows about, and are willing to be awful to other girls to try to ensure he won't end up with someone else. And they don't tend to get the guy they're hot for to want them back, even though they're usually drawn as straightforwardly attractive. I've seen more extreme versions of it, but IMO, most anime girls called Yandere are just given to throwing tantrums over this one, particular thing. In a fairly feminine, screaming-and-flailing way.

Or just hotheaded tomboys, like Misty from Poke'mon.

Re: AO3 Vent/question about the Underage Sex warning

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
It is not always tagged and obviously it has come up often enough for OP to want a fix-it. This comment is so unhelpful idk why you even made it.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this is how I tend to feel about it, too. I get that the OP hates this particular writer's guts and is happy they're leaving, but that's no argument for berating fans who let others know they're moving on. Usually, I want to know. And even when I don't know the person or have feelings about their leaving, I don't assume no one else will care.

>>Censorship is bad.

Wish this one was still completely uncontroversial, but I agree with you.

Re: Uncontroversial Opinions Thread

DA, but I agree with all of why you're saying censorship doesn't protect anyone and actually leaves them more vulnerable.

And this has been a long-term source of frustration for me with the organized left in the US, which I used to consider myself a part of back when they treated arguing about stuff they cared deeply about like a valid way of getting people to support them. When they reverted to "everyone will believe this, because my political party has power and now I can just force anyone saying things I don't like to shut up," I knew they were in for one hell of a fall the next time they were voted out. Because authoritarianism was driving people away from the reactionary right, and "you should accept this is true because only the bad people doubt it" was always an extremely weak argument.

Re: Uncontroversial Opinions Thread

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
DA, but I think what you're doing is entirely important and well-justified.

Re: Uncontroversial Opinions Thread

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
DA part of what made it really clear to me that they do not give a single fuck about people being harmed is because their entire focus is on claiming censorship will prevent hypothetical future sex offenders from discovering what turns them on. Which ... no one needs fiction for, in the first place.

I was stunned when I read the whole brouhaha over violence in video games leading to actual violence was sparked by one court case where the parents of a rich, teenaged boy tried to get him off with a light sentence after having murdered someone, with lawyers claiming he was under the influence of this evil, new media.

Since then, all the mental gymnastics people do to argue that looking at a dirty story will permanently taint people and society needs to prevent that just look like puritanism trying whichever argument sticks, because screaming "it's a sin" just doesn't convince anyone like it used to.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
DA, but what the anon above said. If you're that 'litany of things that should be censored' anon, I wrote you off when I read those threads as rude and needlessly insulting against people who were trying to have an intelligent conversation with you.

With the first thread, I was willing to think the person arguing with you might be sketchy, because "you don't understand censorship" seemed dismissive without explaining anything properly, either. But with the other two, you definitely came off as an intentional nuisance who just wanted to rile people up.

Re: Uncontroversial Opinions Thread

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
That's not what censorship means. No one has to give them airtime or a platform. They cannot and should not be arrested nor should their voices be suppressed by the government. The people can not pay attention or give them money or buy whatever boner pills their hawking, companies can refuse to host their content, but the government cannot forcibly shut down their podcast/vlog/whatever.

Re: Piercings

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want piercings. If my parents had asked me about getting my ears pierced (which they couldn't have, as it's customary in my country to pierce girls' ears at birth), I might have declined. But I have those, and my earlobes get red and hot and complain at me when I try to use earrings any bigger or heavier than studs, and I've never been tempted to get others.

I've appreciated the way other people look with piercings in other parts of their ears, on their eyebrows, and on their lower lip. And Indian women with the little nose-post never bothered me, even as a little kid who found noses gross in general. (Don't know why they seemed okay.)

Ear gauging, septum piercing, whatever you call that piercing across the bridge of the nose at eye level, and whatever the square piercing between neck vertebrae is - those really seem ugly to me. Although the last one might have bad associations from how insecure and try-hard the person I know who got it was? I'm not sure. If the Western body mod community ever gets around to trying to appropriate lower lip gauging from that same tribe in Africa that's famous for the stretched earlobes, I suspect that would look more like body-disfigurement than body modification to me, too.

Your comment is similarly unhelpful, but you've made it still. Pot kettle.
I was just making conversation and being intrigued how often this is a problem. I read a lot of fics and I see embedded fanart like once or twice a year. Untagged? I think I've seen like one in 10 years. So either OP is ridiculously anxious or they have a fandom there it's often enough to be of notice. So yes, colour me surprised

I agree, this was strangely confusing.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-09 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
After staring at the secret for a while, I think OP is saying that they wish there were more fics with yandere characters who were moderate in their...yandere-ness? Like, not psycho and rapey, but also not totally toothless and healthy??

It seems like a big part of what they find too extreme about most yanderes is that they're too rapey. I think OP is saying that they can't avoid the rapiness by just opting for gen fics with obsessive dynamics, because gen fics with obsessive dynamics are too thin on the ground to be a satisfying source of obsessive but not wildly rapey yanderes.

If this is what OP is saying, then...I mean yeah, actually, I kind of agree. I mean, I've never been into any anime/manga fandoms, so I can't claim to fully understand the yandere trope. But I do love me an "obsessive and kinda fucked up, but not at all rapey and they do actually love each other" kind of ship dynamic. And because those dynamics are complicated and involve a lot of nuance and development, they don't get written as much as I personally wish they did. Fluffy or full-on dark are just easier modes to write in, for the most part.

Ublock Origin is a content blocker that I rely on all the time to get rid of advertising on the internet, but it also has a handy feature where you can specify that you don't want to allow images over a size you specify.

So, you could leave that part unchecked for your browser in general, but turn it on for the AO3 and specify a really small image size, so it'll kill all unwanted fanart? I think that might work.
