It's always a bummer when friends disappear the moment they get into a relationship, or the break up causes people to "pick sides" and the group splinters.

What gets me the most is when some people in the same group take turns cycling through dating the same person who caused multiple breakups and people leaving before, which they all witnessed.

What makes them all think they're the special one that will change them? Am I just surrounded by disaster lesbians?

Don't mean to laugh, but that definitely happened in my friend group 20+ years ago, though it was just one troublemaker wanting their cake... and everyone else's cake apparently. Some people are good at the temporary love bombing, and others are bad at recognizing the b.s. for what it is.

speaking from experience, being lesbian/wlw in general means a small dating pool. slim pickings i guess. i'd rather stay single than go through that though.

This is so a 20-something lesbian experience. From my friend group at the time, 5 of us dated the same hot but awful woman (yes, including me) and then she invited us to her wedding (to a man) asking us not to look "too butch". That broke the spell!

This happens in heterosexual relationships/friend groups too.

I've known of situations where a woman dated guys from one friend group as well as a friend group of women who dated one guy.

It just seems way too messy for me to even consider that sort of stuff.

I witnessed this with a group/team back in college, to the point that I would tell incoming freshman joining to make sure they date outside the team. When asked why, I would point to the distinct absence of my fellow upperclassmen.

It used to hurt my feelings a lot when drama went down due to these sorts of situations, but these days when I see what's to come, I just let shit happen. Stay quiet and try to keep the group focused on fandom related things. Drop people who just turn everything into drama.

I understand a lot of that stuff are about other people and not about me, so I just try to keep my area clean and just endure all the shitstorms until they pass.
