My friend actually says water tastes gross and makes her feel sick. I joked that it sounds like her body wasn't mean to survive, evolutionarily speaking. She agreed. We laughed.

I still seriously think it's weird though.

I also thought it was weird until we got a filter pitcher because my housemate swore it was tap water making her sick. she doesn't get sick from the filtered water and in fact drinks gallons of it. idgi since I'm not affected but I'm willing to entertain the concept that some tap water may contain something that doesn't agree with some people. that just means the solution is using filters. if ALL water, filtered or not, distilled, boiled, treated, etc is still gross and sick-inducing to her, that's definitely weird.

I do notice the smell of chlorine in our tap sometimes, when the city water isn't being properly treated, but it doesn't affect me. however, I will do what I can to mitigate the issue for someone who does seem to be affected.

Yup, this is where she's at. All water, even bottled water, tastes gross to her and she says it upsets her stomach and makes her feel like puking. She mainly lives on sodas and coffee.

I also think water tastes gross and it sometimes makes me feel sick. I have discovered through trial and error that my water must be so cold as to be almost ice and then it tastes fine (all my water is already filtered), and that I need to either have just eaten something or be eating something while drinking the water and I won't get sick to my stomach.

I used to feel that way back when I drank soda all the time. I stopped drinking soda, and guess what? Water stopped tasting gross to me.

I'd be willing to bet that that's the case for most people who claim that water is gross - they've gotten so used to drinking sugary beverages that anything that ISN'T sugary just tastes bad to them.

I don't drink sugary beverages (tea, coffee, I prefer juice without added sugar, fruit drinks also with absolute minimum of sugar etc. My perfect drink is mineral water with added flavour without sugar) and I only drink enough water at summer. I just hate warm water, it needs to be cold to taste alright. And you don't drink cold water if it's freezing outside. Also tap water is not that good here, boiled water is plainly fucking disgusting. Not even all filtered water tastes good.

It is weird though, how changing one's diet can affect the taste of other stuff. Recently, I accidentally found myself eating a low sodium diet for a couple of days, to the point where fresh tap water tasted salty. (I immediately corrected this.)
