Unless the creators definitively state a character is autistic, I think it's fine to headcanon them as neurotypical regardless of what fandom thinks. Lots of people can have some, or many, traits that are commonly associated with autism without being autistic.

Say it a little louder for the people in the back.

I would like to co-sign this as someone who keeps getting told that I might be autistic and I should "get tested" so I can better understand myself.

I am absolutely, 100% not autistic (and my friends who have actual diagnoses laughed their asses off when I told them people keep telling me I might have it). I'm just fucking weird, man!

"get tested" I have thanks, I can verify that I am not autistic on any level and if you think my weird hobbies are a tell, that means you don't get that people of all walks of life can have weird hobbies.

I’m another that netizens like to call autistic but I’m not. There’s nothing wrong with being autistic and there’s nothing wrong with not being autistic. I really wish this trend of social media diagnosing would go away already.

Some acquaintances thought I was autistic and when I was tested it turned out I am OCD! There are indeed many causes for similar behaviors.

ADHD for me, so hi-5. It's always hilarious when people put forth the "have you been tested for autism" thing because anyone who knows me well likes to joke that I rolled a nat 20 in charisma. Like, my job is in sales because I'm so good at it!

Amen. Everyone has quirks.

This sounds the basis for an anime…

The BAP is a thing for a reason.

My experience in life has been the opposite though which is being autistic but getting a lot of “no way” about it because I am not weird or quirky enough at first glance. I don’t go around telling people some of my life experiences have been “having the quirky beaten out of me”, “getting into fashion subcultures so I could get used to wearing heels to mask my tiptoeing” or “dressing up because if they see the fit they won’t see the scars from picking to self-regulate”. They see the woman who small chats politely not the girl who sat alone in lunch and was bullied everyday. So, of course they wouldn’t know, not if they don’t see me everyday at least. Whoever beat the autism out of me clearly did a great job. So now I get both masking unhappiness and medical negligence. Fun
