Maybe there is someone here who is a One Piece fan. There is this whole Crocodile is Luffy's mom theory and he asked a devil fruit user to change him to a man. Got it. But why do someone many fics have him still having female genitals? Would the devil fruit not change his whole body?

long answer - if the devil fruit user can give you whatever body you want, who said he doesn't prefer or ask for that? aren't there plenty of women who would love to have a dick but still be women? lol

god I hate that theory. But it's not about Devil Fruit, it's based on one line from Ivankov (whose Devil Fruit includes hormones that can trans your gender, sometimes against your will) during Marineford. That line being about "knowing your secret." Ivankov knows some sort of secret about Crocodile's past. Fandom as a whole decided that because Ivankov can hormonally change men into women and vice versa, that "secret" was automatically that Croc was born a woman and had Ivankov change his gender.

NONE of that makes sense in any way. At all. And as a transman, it's honestly gross to me that people would just go there without any thought behind it.

But in fics? Yeah that's what we call shitty fandom kink writing. Oda only ever showed Ivankov changing a man into a woman once and it was pretty yikes, but it was also almost 20 years ago in real time. He hasn't brought up Ivankov's ability since Marineford and offered zero insight, because even he knows that whatever his drag queen friends told him back then isn't necessarily what he'd want to put out there in the most popular manga of all time. Fandom gonna fandom, instead, and fandom can be super weird about kinks and not really getting the point.

I'm trans and I like the headcanon. Do I think it was what Oda meant to imply? No. But you know why a lot of people's minds go there first thing? Because for some of us, the lack of canon trans representation in media makes us want to read everything with a view of "Could this vague point of canon be interpreted as a trans thing?" Just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone who does it is a cis person with a fetish.
