I liked the first four movies better than the books - the last two movies, however, have been a big disappointment and I actually liked the books better.

Who knows what the last 2 will bring. Not excited anymore since whatshisname is directing them again.

i didnt realize it till i read this secret that I feel the same. I don't hate the movies, I actually really like the 4th one, but it's the movies that made me step out of the fandom and just read the books. I was a sub-forum topic gril, too. until the 5th book came out, then I just read the books and didnt involve myself online. It got to much about the movies, and they books are so fucking better its not even funny.
honestly though, I'm not bitter about the movies. they did the best they could and not everything is going to be perfect. the 3rd movie I am bitter about, because that is my absolute favorite in the series and they fucked it up royally.

(I also wish I had been active in the HP fandom, instead of being butthurt about all the spoilers when the 5th and 6th books came out and I had no access to them. Dammit self.)

I'll admit it, I loathed the first two movies. They got better later in the series though. I actually liked OotP better as a movie than I did as a book.

I fell out of the HP fandom a while back, but I doubt your departure was so epic as to indicate that you wouldn't be welcome back in some corner of it. *shrug* You were hardly the only one to dislike the movies.

Yeah, um, it's cool if you think the movies were bad, but some of them actually get people interested enough to read the books even if they were turned off by the fandom crazies. Adaptions mean more coverage for the story: whether you consider that good or bad is up to you. Still, the movies are just adaptions--I haven't met any HP fan who thinks they know everything about HP just from watching the movies.

I'll agree, the movie's are an extreme change from the books. But I enjoyed them, plus they do get people interested into reading the series. As long as the majority like the films, and JK herself does, I can't see why any of it matters. Get over it.
