Personally I think fandom shouldn't be judging others so harshly for their preferences anyway. It's stupid, completely pointless and most people don't even care what others think of them anyway (like me). Why should fandom care if you hate them / their ships / their favorite series / etc?

Given your RL judginess, you are being a saint at restraining yourself in fandom. Give yourself a pat for that, that's pretty cool. We could all do with more of that. Having said that, I'm squicked about what you might think of me should I choose to don fetish-wear, a corset, or a nice cotton lycra top (slut?). Although you're probably just being facetious. I shudder at the idea of spray-on jeans myself. I'm mega-squicked at the idea that parents deserve respect. Automatically, anyway. I think respect has to go both ways, like in any relationship. So many parents are abusive, and the idea that respect is only one way really contributes to that. Perhaps in YOUR world parents are all lovely and respectful themselves, and yeah, it's shit if those kids thumb their noses at their parents and take them for granted.

I find that: people who whine about other people wearing "tight clothing" are almost invariably fat.

People who whine about other people making mistakes on the road are almost invariably bad drivers.

And people who whine about others' lack of respect tend to display the same lack of respect themselves and don't like what they see.

So, disrespectful fatty who can't drive, how does it feel to be judged?
