What the fuck is that, Shrek cosplay? No sir, I don't like it.

On Screen!Gaila isn't what the nu!Trek fans like.

It's fandom!Gaila who is deliciously representative of the "fuck anything, who gives a shit?" culture of the Trek porn fandom, which isn't exactly correlated with the "A female yeoman?!?!" culture of TOS, but embraced by people... well... wanting a little porn.

TL;DR: Gaila = freedom of sex = more sex between GQFMs.

I didn't particularly give a shit about her the first time I watched the movie, but I like her because of what's been done with her in fanfic.

But yeah, the makeup did kind of suck.

i have no idea who that is but i have to agree with the makeup part.

Gaila from the Star Trek movie. She has proved to be very popular with fandom.

I don't mind Gaila so much as I can't stand most of Fandom's interpretations of her: the party girl who never studies, only cares about sex, and is constantly harping on others to relax and have sex...it goes on and on.

But the character herself, who escaped from slavery to join Starfleet and was playing Jim Kirk even as he was playing her? AWESOMESAUCE.

I hope she did live, because she's pretty awesome.

(But yes, the make-up job did royally blow.)

Like someone said before, Gaila is one of the few female characters out there that likes sex, has plenty of it, and yet isn't seen as a whore and whatnot. Not to mention, that she is probably a smart lady, what with being in Starfleet and all..

One can't help but be a little fond of her.

P.S. The makeup was fine, had no problem with the red hair against (I've had crushes on certain green-skinned redheaded ladies before, i.e. Poison Ivy) but what was with the lipstick!?

I could've made this secret, OP. I hate how she's been made into such a blatant author's insert in so many fics. She's like a free-pass Mary Sue, whenever I see her name in fics I frown.

She's green and almost naked. What's not to like?

But seriously she's such a minor character your opinion of her can only come from fandom. She's whatever the fans mold her to be.

People like her? She's barely even a character. She's like an in-joke and plot device to show that reboot Kirk is still a playboy rolled into one. Her only defining characteristic is that Kirk fucked her.
