have had nearly the same experience. made a fanvid, posted it, but then bad stuff went down in the fandom (unrelated) and no one really wanted to pay attention. it was practically ignored.

then one day I got this comment out of the blue saying it was the best video the person had watched all week. :DDDDDDD

That's great, OP!
It's best to make videos from your own creative urges and satisfaction, but it definitely feels good to know someone else was entertained by it. Getting feedback sort of validates your choice to upload it.
