I think we still need diverse body representation but maybe focus more on body neutrality. We shouldn't convey bodies as things to hold up as the ideal and other body types as wrong.

IMO that's a better way to try to destimagatize anti fatness than to promote "every body is beautiful". We're still promoting an idea that bodies are meant to be pleasant to the eyes.
When in reality we need our bodies to live and most times how pleasant our bodies look have nothing to do with what's going on in our lives.

I feel like we live in an extremely looks obsessed world and we need to stop emphasizing value on looks.

I feel a need to be pushy about not giving into society by suffering in silence and simply watching good looking people get all the representation. I'd rather we get ugly/less visually pleasing faces and bodies be given more representation so we don't recoil at the mere sight of a bulging belly or flabby arms.

+100, really well said.

I think this is a better approach, too. Whether or not it'd actually work... well. I don't know.

Agreed. I know that the world isn't going to change quickly just because better or more nuanced approaches are applied. When change happens, the pendulum will swing.

However, I will still forever advocate for more body representation and for more body neutrality if I can.

Unfortunately, attractiveness does matter, as reproduction is one of the major things our brains tell us to use our bodies for.

It sucks, but it isn't something that's likely to change.

Was gonna say. Just look at animals - they pick their mates by who has the brightest plumage, the thickest and fluffiest tail, etc. It's pretty much hardwired into just about every species to judge potential mates by their appearance.

True, but what makes a potential mate attractive has always changed a lot thought the years and it'mostly based in our culture than any biological truth, we are very social after all. Normalizing more 'neutral' bodies as opposed of the 1% only would still do us a lot of good.
