(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 08:32 am (UTC)(link)Stop voting for them. Be ready to take the L and be super loud about why, and not cringing over it. Go into every battle, even the ones you know you cannot win, saying that not only can you win, but you deserve to win and that if you didn't win then it meant foul play. Raise holy hell every time you lose. Be obstructionist and no bipartisan. When you do get a Win then don't be conciliatory, you drive hell for leather at the most radical victory and implement the most radical policies in your agenda. Even if it means you think they'll lose you the next election, see point one in this, because the more you implement and more radical it is, the harder it is to reverse. Stop trying to make The System work, and say Fuck the System instead. Pack the courts with your radicals, fire generals that won't support Your cause.
Do what the Right has been doing, only do it with Leftist policies, because it fucking works. Even when The Right is out of power, they still get all their shit done anyway. Stop being timid quiche eating milquetoasts.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)I do think the ones elected need to obstruct more. That's the least they can do, to present a united front. And it's true, the Right is good at playing the long game as long as they can have power.
But I would not simply suggest people stop voting for Democratic candidates. Instead, I would say to be discerning about your vote. Be well informed on the issues AND on what your candidate stands for, because that will help you figure out which candidate is needed at which election. I don't subscribe to "vote blue no matter who" but at this time, we do need the Democratic party to get their asses in gear. Research the good ones, the ones who aren't bought off by corporations, the more progressive ones, and vote them in on every level, from your local school board to the President. Consider running yourself if you're the type of person to.
I would also not be quick to say "fuck the system," because apparently it worked well enough for Republicans (even if they also bent the rules at times). They're just a lot more patient than Democrats are.
In the meantime, pressure any sitting Senators and Reps to do the right thing, and primary them when they're not doing their job.

(Anonymous) 2025-06-18 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)This is the Republican playbook, by the way. They're forcing the Democrats more and more towards the center/right, as that's where the votes are. Truly leftist candidates aren't winning nominations because they don't have enough votes. We've seen this in the past.
To cast (away) your vote to let an extreme right-wing candidate win when you actually want a truly liberal candidate is insane. The candidate that caters to the center is closer to your ideals than the right-winger!
