Different comics go different ways with it. I read one story where a one-shot villain who wanted revenge on Doom revealed his horribly disfigured face to Doom, and then Doom revealed his face in turn. The hero saw this from behind Doom, and when the one-shot villain screamed, the hero didn’t know if it was “in terror or in recognition.”

The thing is, I think he starts with not that bad of a scar but then the placement of the Doom mask is what really fucks his face up. Cuz it was like super hot when he slapped it on.
