Guilty Pleasure Media

What are your guilty pleasure media? Things you feel a little weird about liking or that would be considered weird by the general population, but you like anyway?

I started watching these before I took my driving test. Really helped with Hazard Perception :)

I love dashcam compilations of ALMOST accidents. You know, the ones where you see people do crazy stupid shit, but at the end of the day everybody is safe.

"Or shows that would be considered weird by the general population."

You only read the subject line didn't you. We've all been there.

Nope. Every show I love also has a fanbase, so I don't see why it would be considered weird by the general population either. Stop assuming things.

CN BL webnovels are probably regarded as weird by the general population? But for me, guilty pleasure media isn't really something the general population would find weird but rather is more something that I wouldn't necessarily even tell friends about or that seems kind of OOC for what my friends know about my tastes. Which in my case is the subgenre of entertainment circle BL novels - they're so cheesy and predictable and don't really align with my usual tastes but they're cute feelgood entertainment.

Rpf isn't even weird anymore and that's We Should All Know Less About Each Other to me but yeah that.

I still have a lot of old school 'Yaoi' from the 2000s that are comfort reads to me, even though a good majority of them have NOT aged well (Yellow and Love Mode still gets me emotional, but no way in hell would I ever recommend them to anyone).

Then there's Emilie Autumns albums Enchanted and Opheliac. I still love listening to them and looking over the photography around that era, but the drama surrounding her all the way into 2020 made me back away from the fandom.

I have weird self consciousness about my cozy fantasy I like. It's not guilt, but I don't always share it with my circle because I know they would find it a very weird (and probably childish) genre. I'm fine with that, I'm not going to force them to read it, but I feel weirdly protective of it and don't want to hear their criticisms. A lot of my book choices are like that. Most of my friends and family tend to read kind of mainstream or more literary stuff where I'm more into niche scific and fantasy.
