It doesn't even have to be a hyperfixation. People get lost in a show or book or hobby all the time and lose track of time or have that impulse of not wanting to stop, but a handy outside force stops them instead and gives them a break. It is super normal.

It sounds like perfectly logical human psychology. And like a really basic concept I'm surprised you haven't heard of or can comprehend.
