Eh, I don’t see it. When I’m reading a story about high schoolers, I’m in the perspective of a high schooler, just like when I’m reading the perspective of My Little Ponies, I’m in the perspective of a cartoon pony. They can have sex with each other without me the adult human being involved.

Generally I agree, but I still don't like high school AUs because the characters either act like modern teenagers (which is boring and annoying) or don't act like modern teenagers (in which case the setting is weird). But just reading a fic with teenagers, that's fine.
