I agree with this secret! Extreme circumstances like wars makes hosting Eurovision impossible.

Why does Austria want to back out hosting next year's Eurovision?.

They don't. There is no news about Austria backing out. Also there were no countries being not okay with hosting at least last 5 years. Well, excluding Ukraine. But, you know. War.
So I really do not understand this secret.

ALSO
What mid song does even mean. For example, this year's 3rd place can't even fucking sing, but the number was fun enough to make this popular.

I don’t know how hosting Eurovision works logistically, but I really hate the way the Olympics work. Countries bid because some people in power are going to profit off of it, but in lots of cases there’s clear negative effects borne by the general population.

If it’s at all the same, I kinda respect countries turning it down.

I had no idea what USP was so I looked it up and, from context, I am assuming this is the one you meant: "unique selling proposition"

Thank you for providing me my TIL moment today.

Ireland eventually managed to get out of it by sending mediocre songs, follow their lead!

This was a plot element in Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

and in Father Ted

I don't follow Eurovision news closely so I'm curious what this secret is referring to? I can't find any news about Austria not wanting to host next year so I'm assuming it's not them, and the only winning country who didn't host in recent years was Ukraine as far as I recall. Were there other countries that tried to get out of hosting?

Genuinely wondering! I agree with the secret, just curious about the context.

OP

It's not referring to any news but I got the idea when I read an article about how much ORT and the Austrian government are expecting to pay. There is always the discussion around countries that don't meet the hosting requirements, and so I think this is a situation that will pop up sooner or later.

Ah I see, thanks for replying! I don't really follow much outside of the contest itself so I hadn't really seen this pop up, I think the only country I've seen this discussion about is San Marino because afaik they're too small to have an adequate arena within their borders so here (Italy) it's often assumed that we'd host it for them.

Iirc they *can* only get out of it due to extreme circumstances, right?

Ireland had to enter with some right dross to self-sabotage and give themselves no chance of winning for the 6th time in 10 years or whatever because it was so expensive to host.
