Motivation

What type of motivation works for you?

I am a social pressure kind of person. The only reason I finally got off my butt and emailed a few psychs and therapists is because my Dr asks if I've done it every visit and this would be the fourth time I would have had to say no and that would just be too much failure for me. I wish I had irl friends or a partner that would take an interest or just generally ask how things are, but alas I am a stereotype of the lonely nerd.

Doing one tiny thing. It almost always snowballs. Bodies in motion etc.

Spite's gotten me this far. Also the desire to piss on certain political graves when the time comes.

People doing things badly. I tend to clear them out and take over. It's not quite spite, but more like when you write fix it fic trying to do justice to good premise in a terrible canon. Which I also have done a lot. lol

For something like exercising, what works best is if i have someone expecting me to show up/participate/do it with them.
For my own stuff, like laundry or running errands...mostly just 'get it the fuck done' so i can chill at home.

Generally the idea of helping people. I'm working on giving myself the same grace I give other people. But usually if what I need to do is for someone else, it is easier to be motivated than if it is for me.

I got those hobgoblins in my little mind.

I dont care what anyone else says or does, I dont care if its positive or negative, I just gotta follow my little rituals and patterns. Its less motivation and more "Now it is time to do this thing or the whole house of cards comes down."
