I was gonna say, futanari is incredibly popular, and if you go to East Asian fandoms cuntboys are a big thing as well. I don’t think people owning their kinks would make it less popular at all and in fact we’d see more.

I don't think that was what OP was saying, they were saying trans headcanons would be less popular because cuntboys/dickgirls/futa/et cetera which are not the same as trans, would take their place for people who only want body parts

It's not about making either more/less popular, it's tagging them correctly.

The amount of fic remains the same, but the futanari fic which is currently tagged as trans gets tagged correctly.

But right now, at least in Western fandom, people use the trans tag when what they're writing is clearly dickgirl/boypussy kink. Which is very annoying when trying to find trans fic.
