That bothers me, too. Especially because I seek out fanfics that focus on willowy, feminine guys who seem fairly inflexibly picky about doing things their way, in canon. Which doesn't mean they'd always come out on top in stories, but ... they tend to be characters that are sensitive to power dynamics and displeased with having to act like someone else has more of it. Not "eager, willing bottoms." And often, just more fun to read when the story doesn't force them into bottoming just because the writer can't see them dominating anyone.
