This one is obscure and personal, but Ragna the Bloodedge from BlazBlue. When not living up to his very edgy name, he's a comforting big brother type character who is awkward but tries to give decent advice to, and protect, the people he cares about. There's multiple canonical instances of this guy showing up to talk people - people who have actively hunted him, or just straight up hate him - down from stupid decisions they're about to make.
