Do you know the details of the contract he signed? Was it for a specific number of books? He has written prequels and depending on how his contract is worded, he may have fulfilled the letter of the contract. Was there a specific date by which he had to deliver a manuscript? Even if he's still under contract in a concrete way, the fans still don't get to dictate how his publishers deal with any breeches.
