Yeah. I'm not into Naruto, but my brother was for a short while and we have a small collection of the manga. In the first volume there's a picture of him with almost the same expression, and I'm pretty sure she was trying to imitate that.

It's not very accurate though, because in the picture one of his eyes are closed and there are paint swirls all over his face.
