16. ♥ I feel the same way! Really, I'm not big on semes abusing ukes in real life, but this is fantasy! We always hear studies about how women have rape fantasies, but of course they'd never want that in real life. Sometimes we just like our sexual stereotypes, okay? Not all ukes are like Shuichi, either.

17. Neither do I. The other characters are always more interesting. I'm not quite sure why Japanese game developers automatically assume that because we might identify with younger, poorer protagonists we want them to be the main characters. Hells no, Balthier kicks Vaan's ass!

Hellz yes. Vaan really was such a secondary character in that game. Every other character eclipsed him...except maybe Ashe, who I didn't like a whole lot.

It's when people think that all gay couples are naturally like that that it's a problem.

[identity profile] shahrizai.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Whoever thinks that is totally ignorant. The only people I know who actually believe that are teen girls who get a big dose of reality once they become adults. Give them the benefit of the doubt, we all thought stupid shit when we didn't know any better. Growing up in a mainly Catholic farm community I was grossed out the first time I read a yaoi fic. But I was 13 and quickly smartened up.

Then what about all the fanfics forcing people into 'seme/uke' roles?

[identity profile] shahrizai.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Faaaantasy. Sometimes I like seme/uke roles, but I know they don't exist that prevalently in real life, so I stick with fic. I also know that magical Tolkien elves don't exist, but I like them, so I read about them. Liking something doesn't mean you have to believe it's the norm. It's the same with crappy Harlequin romance novels!

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2007-04-16 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
But people *do* believe it's true.
