Nah. Some people should never be parents, full stop. Things would be much, much better if we got over this weird obsession that the best place for a kid is with their bio parents, because in a lot of cases? It isn't.

But step one should not be "adopt kids out".

DA- Serious question, what would be your first, second, and third options instead, with adoption as the last one? This is a bizarre hill to die on.

I think it is bizarre that people here are jumping straight to adoption. Options before adoption should be seeing if changes can be made to keep the family together. Will food stamps and help with utilities help? Does the parent need drug counseling? Will further education help? Or help with finding a job? Does the parent need childcare help? Are there other family members that can take the children?

What are the timelines for the help? Not denying that in SOME cases help would work, but are you going to leave a child in a poor situation while things get thrown at the wall with the hope that it sticks?

You understand fosters exist?

What's bizarre is you assuming that everyone who puts a child up for adoption actually wanted to keep that child. There are plenty of people who place kids for adoption because they don't personally believe in abortion for themselves but also don't want to have kids or potentially may want kids in the future, but not at this moment in time.

And making sure that is the reason should be one of the first steps. It isn't that hard to do.
