Yet again, placing IRL issues that overall are complicated onto a thing of fiction in where the consequences of actions are not real and do not reflect IRL.

I know adoption is a complicated issue. It seemed like an easy solution to a complex problem, but as most things in the real world, it's a solution in which new issues arise so we can't really say it "solves" an issue. But to swing completely the other way and say it's completely terrible is also dangerous and not quite true to what happens IRL.
And it's....a choice to bring this topic up with The Sims and project whatever feelings you have onto the game.

Yep.

+1

There are a lot of legitimate reasons to speak up about bad experiences adoptees have had, the nuances of a complex topic, and the history of exploitation in adoption. The Sims... is definitely not the starting point I would pick to have that conversation. Like the first reply said, it's not exactly meant to be seen as a realistic game.

OP, I sympathize with the game bothering you, sometimes seemingly innocuous fandom stuff can bring up heavy emotions for me, but you're unlikely to get a serious discussion going with this type of secret.
