This sort of thing often happens to me. Sometimes they will be glad to talk to be about it for a little, but then I go crazy on my own. That's how I even started in fandom in the first place.

I'm so glad I'm not alone! But then, it's really easy for me to get my hands on episodes/manga/movies/albums, so collecting fucking everything is as easy as clicking a megaupload link.

Well, it's just sort of awkward when my level for excitement for those fandoms is so full on and they're only casual about it. Like "yeah I download this podcast sometimes" and I check it out and like it so much I'm downloading every episode and listening to them three times.. It's just something I feel sort of self-conscious about. Like I'm obsessing about this stuff more than I should, and it's "more okay" to obsess over big fandoms, like major US TV shows currently airing or one of the most popular anime shows or a popular book series..

This happens to me a lot. Except instead of friends, it's F!S. I'll see a mention of a fandom that looks interesting, a movie, book or anime, or even a bunch of people saying "OMG I HATE THIS" and then I have to go check it out, even if it's just one obscure-fandom secret.

I've found some really great stuff that way :)

But the crap some of my friends like... *shudders* >.>

Oh same here, but I feel less self-conscious about that. It's just "hey I discovered this randomly, anybody else into it?" and usually I'll find one or two people on my flist who goes "yeah, I dig that" or "I used to watch that show!" or whatever. (Though I never check out the "I hate this" fandoms. I do almost always check out the slashy fandoms.. *g*)

But with stuff somebody casually mentions and then week later I have a tag with 30 entries under it about that stuff .. it's just sort of embarrassing.
