It's really such a shame. Sonic 06 is one of the best games of the 00s (along with Heroes and Unleashed) that I'd like to see them polished up and brought to modern consoles, but the only thing anyone remembers about it is the memes.

Not in this fandom, so can't comment on the plot/characters, just wanted to say that as an outsider reading all of this, between the "They made her out to be a depraved pervert whose only goal in life was to fuck a dead hedgehog" and "When she was a child, her father sealed a demon within her (without her consent)" aspects, this secret was a RIDE :p.

(Seriously, though, that does sound like it'd be really frustrating and annoying and I do sympathize with you and any other fans who had to deal with what sounds like a bunch of nonsense from some corners of fandom.)

You know what makes the Hatred and demonization of Elise especially galling? The fact that her dad, the one who is indirectly responsible for all the bad events in the game, gets off scot-free in the fandom. Misogyny is one hell of a drug

I never got a chance to play 06 because I didn't own any of the consoles, but god damn the reaction to that clip was so overblown. They're cartoons!! What weirded me out was the art style if anything.

Yah The Uncanny Valley Artstyle didn't help matters at all . Even the mo-cap made the furries look so... lifeless and move like puppets. Though Elise eventually got a glow up in some official new Sonic CHannel art ( https://www.reddit.com/r/SonicTheHedgehog/comments/120fn7k/new_sonic_channel_art_featuring_silver_and_elise/) , that made her look more like a sonic character, but the damage had already been done.

It blew my mind how the fandom made a mountain out of a anthill in regards to the kiss. FUnfact: SOnic was orginally going to have a human Girlfriend (https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Madonna), but Sega of America said no to that because it was "too japanese" ( Guess they never heard of Roger Rabbit)
