While I consider "Brave" to be one of the weakest Pixar films, I did like how it affirmed both Merida and Elinor's version of femininity. It would have been so easy to just make Elinor a caricature, but "Brave" wound up saying that while there's nothing wrong with being all "I am woman, here me roar!" ala Merida, there are times in life where diplomacy and tact will get you further.
