Huh, I wonder why that is. I mean, seeing the actor rather than the role, even with quite different characters.

I guess I’d be curious to know what other roles you might have seen him in. (I thought Kilgrave wasn’t so far from his role in Secret Smile, and both very different from his public persona, but I feel like I’m one of a dozen people to remember that one.)

Not OP but I have to say even though I enjoy Tennant, he is definitely an actor that never blends into the role for me. I am always very aware I am watching David Tennant. It doesn't bother me but I can see how it would not click for some people.

Yeah, he really doesn't blend well. I am not really into that.
Also he does overpay, he is obviously a theatre actor

I love him and don't 100% agree but I also get you because I have a thing about that ONE particular English accent a lot of productions seem obsessed with making him use and that's my personal "this isn't much different" blindspot of pettiness with his acting.

I've seen him on stage twice now (Hamlet and Macbeth) and I honestly think that's where he's most at home.

He was a great Hamlet.

Supported BBC blacklisting Eccleston. The appropriate word is "vile", not "awesome"

It was his role in Broadchurch that finally won me over. I didn't know he had that in him. Everything else I'd ever seen (including Kilgrave) just felt like David Tennant acting. Usually by overacting. Which is understandable for a stage actor. But man, his restraint and microexpressions in Broadchurh were just. Ahhhhh.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. He was amazing in Broadchurch. I had no idea he could do subtle before that show!

Have you tried...

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Have you tried the Ducktales Reboot?

Disney should have AI'd Alan Young's voice.

he supports underage trans agenda. Vile.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
You are JK Rowling and I claim my five pounds (and the right to see if I can spit with the accuracy of a camel).

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
What is "underage trans agenda"?

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want to trigger the crazy terf anon. Basically promoting trans agenda among teens and kids. His kid decided to be nonbinary at 9. Gross.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
What is the "trans agenda"?

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
saying that it's fashionable, that the meds and operations are safe, that girls are not tomboys but genderfluid or trans now.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
None of that is an agenda. I think you don't know what an agenda is.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Tennant's activelly promoting it. And I don't mean to say that trans people benefit from it and support kids having operations. It's just a vocal minority.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You still don't know what an agenda is.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
enlighten us. I bet you won't because you don't seem to know anything.

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Is he saying that it's fashionable? Or is he saying to let kids explore and believe them when they tell you things about themselves? Cause I haven't heard about him pressuring or forcing anyone to be trans. Sounds to me you think the "trans agenda" is just like the "gay agenda." Are you a bigot? If not, why do you sound like one?

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Tennant is vocal. He's a celebrity so his opinion matters to people. Don't even try to make it look like he's minding his own business.

Why do you sound like you're bullshitting? Are you a liar?

(Anonymous) 2025-08-16 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
this happened with me, too. i'm neutral on him, but feel like he's so big that who he is overshines the characters he play. jessica jones was the first time i watched him where i didn't feel that, and i enjoyed how good he is at playing evil
