Your fandom trends

Inspired by secret #7. I thought it was interesting that they only read longfic in Potter fandom, and wondered if anyone else noticed patterns in their fandom behavior. I definitely have specific tropes I like in only specific fandoms.

I'm kind of the same as nonny. There are only three fandoms I can read longfic for: Potter, Tolkien, and Star Wars.

For PWPs, I read Tolkien, MCU, Buffy, or Star Wars. Used to also be Supernatural, but I don't read much SPN fic anymore.

For short character explorations I really like Babylon 5, Tolkien, and Buffy.

For darkfic, though, I'll read just about anything. And the same for non-porny hurt/comfort.

Well I was only reading completed fics for the majority of fandoms I've been in; but recently I've gotten into a very new fandom that has finally broken that trend out of desperation for more to read.

Also, when it comes to yandere fics I only read the non-sexual ones. I can't explain it, but the ones that do it to my taste just hit it perfectly.

I'm pretty open to anything, tbh. I can't really think of any tropes that are specific to one fandom. I will say I'm drawn to certain characters.

Generally the more serious a canon is, the more silly fic I read. And the sillier the canon is, the more serious fic I read. Some people want 'more of the canon' but for me it's always 'what else the canon could've been' or 'through a different lens'

My favorite character in almost any TV show tends to be the smartest and/or the craziest character.

I have several general tropes I tend to lean into, but my fandom patterns definitely depend on the character I've hyperfocused on. Like I don't really have one trope I tend to like on every character, it's more character/setting specific.

Not that I can easily put a pin on. Like the only pattern I have for shipping is fave character/second fave but the tropes, ship dynamic and type vary wildly across the canons I’m into. Sometimes I’m shipping only canon, sometimes only fanon, sometimes a bit of both. Some ships I’m into come with size kink as a thing, others don’t, there’s monsterfucking thrown in there for fun too.

It’s a wild medley.

My long fic reads are Tolkien, Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek TOS, and Stucky. I have fics in those fandoms I tend to read again and again.

I love longfics, but I tend to end in small or smallish fandoms and usually they don't have a lot of good longfics.
And I just can't read fics for fandoms I am not in. I get regularly recommended fics. I am not reading them.
There are several fandoms I love to read coffee shops AUs, but usually I am not into that.
