As someone who just recently started watching this show, this makes me even more excited about it! I love it when shows don't necessarily wrap up everything nice and neatly - those unresolved questions leave a delightful sense of tension and are great fanfic launch points.

Kids' shows with adult fans often have the strangest drama in their fandoms.

I mean, the show itself? Like your person B is still being a dumbass here + misreading the other person's complaint. But the show very much did already present the Diamonds as both kinda fascist and as an abusive family. And I can see why someone would pattern match complaining about how all that was handled to a slightly different complaint about the same thing.

I have never heard anything like this, though I guess some sorts of abuse can definitely be described as fascist?? The whole violent suppression and absolute control is definitely abuse.

It's because media-illiterate people, who don't know how to take shows any way other than literally, cannot help but rewrite "the Diamonds as symbolic of abusive parents" to "the Diamonds as literal fascists" in their minds, so that's what they hear when someone talks about the show dealing with abusive parents.
