He's def. attracted to women. Shipteasing aside, the clearest canon evidence of Snake's bisexuality is the fact that his Psyche bar goes up a quarter when Ocelot kisses him. (Ocelot's goes up a half...I like to think that this is proportional to their Kinsey scores or something. A 2 and a 4, or a 3 and a 6, something like that XD)

Yeah, I used to lurk MSG forums a few years ago and the bashing of Raiden was just ridiculous. It's ironic how they overlook such suggestive hints from Snake, probably because he's so masculine. Because of the silly "masculine men can't be gay" stereotype. :/

Homophobic fanboys are infuriating, I know. Which is why I stay far away from mainstream games fandom and stick to the slashy enclaves, if anything.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Raiden's kind of masculinity - long-haired and all - meant to be read as super-heterosexual in Japanese media? That and, yeah, what you said; it's not just that he has a straight nuclear family, but that they're the only such family in the entire series. The rest of the family units in the game are full of clones, orphans, adopterlings, abandonments, abductions, early bereavements, patricides, matricides and interference from the Philosophers and Patriots - the nearest you get to normal domestic lives are the pseudo-incestuous antics of the Emmerichs and the Campbells.

But there at the end you've got Raiden and Rose with their fairytale ending, Meryl and Johnny subverting traditional gender roles...and then the credits role and it cuts back to those two guys with the adopted daughter and how could this not be an intentional juxtaposition no really Kojima are you trying to tell us something here

It used to bother me, but then all I had to do was look at Snake and lol. Raiden's probably one of the straightest characters in the series; the whole "lol Raiden is ghei" thing has just become an affectionate joke in parts of the fandom I see. As for the nutsy homophobe fanboys who think it's true, they're probably beyond help, as others have said.
