Short version: The actor in question is Misha Collins - plays the angel Castiel in Supernatural and is a bit of a real life Mary Sue in certain things like the way he built his own house - and Mishaland in theory is a place for people who adore him to hang out and squee, but in practise is just where a lot of the crazy people who think Supernatural isn't serious business hang out and post crackfics, macros and just the same sort of content you'd see in most capslock communities.

Oh, and unlike some capslock communities, it doesn't take itself too seriously; you won't get punched in the e-penis for writing/manipping something that isn't 100% hilarious.

It's the banner for Mishaland; just a capslock comm for people who adore Misha Collins (or who adore the people who adore him) to hang out and be very, very silly.

The picture is just proof that Misha Collins knows how to play to his fans, because really, how many actors would post a photo of their apparently topless selves covering their faces in organic yoghurt? ;)

Aww <3, admittedly there are... some idiosyncracies to Mishaland humour but I'd have a peek at the newbies guide if you haven't already and maybe, if you're a little uncertain, just go balls-out and write a crackfic and post it. The back and forth of replying to comments in there definitely is a diving in the deep end method of getting the hang of things but it's totally worth it.

And DON'T WORRY if you don't find everything funny; I was a bit >:( at the whole Markshaland thing but Uriel's tentacles, the Chaddinator's STDs and Alastair's tender torturing make me grin far more than they should.

I'd recommend watching Charlie the Unicorn on Newgrounds or Youtube and then diving in; things make a weird amount more sense after watching that video.

I think it just doesn't strike everyone as funny, hell that sort of stuff doesn't usually strike me as funny. Mishaland has this warping effect that makes everything 300% more awesome - though I still don't get the Chaddinator as being funny but alas.


Tis a shame, but if the humour doesn't click with you.... the poor lost souls.

I confess that I don't get the capslock thing. I mean, it's funny to an extent, but the fact that it's A RULE FOR ALL THE TIME is just weird. Maybe it's just because caps annoy me because my mother always texts me in all caps. And makes up her own acronyms.

Well, I figure there's ontd_spnparty (probably have that slightly wrong, but nevermind) for lowercase squee; Mishaland is for when things are A LITTLE TOO EXCITING.

Plus capslock always makes me giggle and think of that meme with adding "TO THE EXTREME" to the end of everything... TO THE EXTREME.

i think not even the members "get" everything about the comm all the time (and i include myself in that) however, sense of humor isn't universal, and if that's not your kind of humor, then there's not much to do about it.

I think more than anything it's not so much the humour as the fact that everyone's NICE to each other and everyone supports everyone's right to ship or not ship as they like. And in SPN fandom, generally outside of people friends lists, it's the humour communities that seem to provide the safest places to hang out with other fans without worrying much about people agreeing or disagreeing with your chosen method of watching the show.

It's kind of like the number of secrets about ontd_startrek or similar. If people have a place to be doofuses without getting their heads ripped off for it, they tend to be protective and affectionate about it :).

Aw, that's sad. Maybe you're just trying too hard to find the humor in it. If you don't like it, you don't have to force it. You can just post something that you do find funny, and I'm sure someone else will, too. Otherwise, your options are using some sort of mind altering substance or finding a comm that's more to your liking. :)

The main reason I hang around is because the people are nice and always out to have a fun time. It's infectious.

And I used to be a Misha fan once. (shameful but I can't change the past now, can I?)

But then I don't even get 'yo momma' nor fart jokes. Give me Benny Hill, Blackadder or John Cleese and I will laugh tears though. Go figure. Humour is a weird animal.

Hehe, I wouldn't worry about it hon :). Some of the jokes fall flat on me too, but I tend to find that the wide variety of odds and ends means I normally find at least one thing a day funny, plus it's such a nice atmosphere that I don't mind when I'm not giggling.

Also :D :D :D at Blackadder and John Cleese (and what are your feelings on Kenny Everett?)!
