I always had major problems because I hate the prince in his human form. I think the Beast is gorgeous and his character loses its charm after he turns back into a man.

On the other hand, durr, beastiality. It's NOT EXACTLY my thing. But as a character The Beast > The Prince. Which makes shipping... complicated.

Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney movie of all time. So I was happy when y'know, he didn't really die... but he looked so goddamn weird. I can't get used to it. It's what's stopping me from delving into the fandom and reading fic.

Don't sweat it- in the special edition DVD the filmmakers themselves stated during the audio commentary that they weren't happy with the Prince (human) vs the Beast. I like how they sum it up best: it's not about the shape or design of the Prince, it's because you've spent the entire movie falling for the Beast character. When he changes at the end, it's like "who is this guy?"

That actually sums it up perfectly. As a Beast, he had so much personality. What with the face and raising hackles and the angry all-fours pacing... he was just a great character.

And then it was like WHAT. BRING THAT CHARACTER BACK.
