People decided a character in her new show was a trans woman, she said that the character is not trans. Now she's evil.

Specifically, she was asked directly in an @ if the character was trans because of a scene where the character, who is a woman established earlier in the pilot to go by the name Francesca with the nickname Frankie, is called "Franklin" by her boss when he's mad at her. A lot of fans (myself included) speculated that this was him deadnaming her. The fan gave this context when asking Dana Terrace, and she answered "Frankie is cis" and that Franklin is another nickname and inspired by the many masculine nicknames goes by for "Dana."

I personally can see why "Frankie is cis" comes off as harsh and dismissive, but I think she was worried because realizing people have interpreted a nickname as a deadname, and in turn that a character is being subjected to transphobia when that wasn't your intent, is something that I know I would be terrified to realize as a writer. So I think the tweet was phrased that way in her panic to reassure people there was no transphobia happening in-show. Instead it backfired and got her accused of transphobia out-of-show.

DA

And the thing is, she apologized for how the post came out like, and reinforced that she is cool with any headcanons, and that it was just not her intent. I think people are also mad at her for having a Trans Woman voice a man character (Don't remember which), even thought the Voice Actor said she wanted to voice the character.

Not to mention it's really presumptuous of them to think Dana Terrace was even the one who cast the voice actors! A show's creator doesn't make every single decision. We don't know exactly who chose the cast for Knights of Guinevere, but most things have someone especially in charge of casting and it's unusual for that job to go to the creator.

The audience is getting dumber and dumber.
