WHAT EP/ARC IS THIS? i've been a casual watcher of tng [i know that makes no sense] and have missed quite a bit of it. looks pretty enticing.

a little while ago, I was watching First Contact for the first time in yeeeears and when the Borg queen is seducing Data and asks him how long it's been since he's had sex, he says something like 8 years and I was like "OMFG TASHA ♥"

I want more fic too!

And he can count the time down to the second, too, which, I suppose, is no surprise for an android, but the way he says it is so cute and sad at the same time.

I hated Tasha (even as a 7 year old), and really? I never needed to know that Data is 'fully functional'. That shit is the stuff of nightmares, man.

Tasha wasn't my fav. but I did like her with Data, but I was in my 20s so less vulnerable to emotional scarring =D

I really only wanted to reply because I ADORE your icon. Although I only post as anon in fandomsecrets (to enjoy the *secret* aspect) - is that icon stealable? I'd credit of course.

I stole it from someone I actually know who stole it from someone *they* actually know, and so on (ie, no one that I can track just snagged it w/o credit) and no one knows where the hell it came from. No one's stepped up to take credit, and I always check icon pages when I see someone else with it to see if there is any. So go ahead and steal away. I love the thing, it makes me laugh every single time. :P

LOL, this. This so many times. Probably in large part because as a little kid I wanted to be Data, but just ... ew.

If you haven't already, you absolutely must read Rollercoaster (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4267838/1/Rollercoaster) by Mistress Scribbles. She's rewritten the TNG canon as if Tasha were alive, charting the tentative, falling in not-quite-love with Data, and it's one of the best and most beautifully written fics I have ever found in my life. :)

Seconded! Definitely the best Data/Yar fic I've read, and one of the best Data fics in the fandom, I think.

I just finished reading that a couple nights ago, Would reccommend it too, Brilliant!

I KNEW IF I JUST SCROLLED DOWN TO THE COMMENTS SOMEONE WOULD HAVE RECC'D SOMETHING.

THIS HAS MADE MY WEEK. Star Trek was a fandom I was in when I was much younger and before I ever considered 'fanfic'. I've gone back and found some for my DS9 pairings, but it never occurred to me to look into some Data/Tasha.

It wasn't until I was in college that someone told me that beyond that episode Tasha/Data hadn't been canon. I was very upset by this news.

THEY LIED.

Much later on in the series, Data's humanity is put on trial, effectively. A scientists basically wants to dissect him to make more androids like him and Data wants to remain on the Enterprise, so of course they have to go through this whole kangaroo court to prove that Data is sentient and alive and has the right to make his own decisions. Prove he's a person, not an object, you know?

One of the evidence used in favor of Data's humanity is they bring a small holo-projector from his room, which has a small image of Tasha on it, in uniform, just smiling. When they ask him about it he can't... exactly explain why he has it, only that he wishes to remember her. Or something. I can't remember exactly myself, but it heavily implied that in as much as it was possible for him to, Data had feelings for her both then and now. It made me squee my tiny proto-fangirl heart out.

Hummm, sounds a lot like a certain Voyager episode with the same thing involving the Doc.

I <3 you, secret maker! TNG ruled, and I really wanted them to explore their relationship more - they were friends, after all, long before that event. The brushing it off didn't seem very Yar-like to me, as she was very direct and head on mostly. D:

OP you need to read the original S&S TNG pocketbooks (http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation_(Pocket)). There were a couple of the early ones, where Data got emotion, and there was one (Memory Alpha is crashing FF so I can't verify which one it is) where Data was made fully human, and grieves for Tasha as a result.

COMPLETELY agree with this secret. I loved this pairing and then there was like no fic at all. ;;

Oh God, I remember that episode! It was hilarious and interesting, and I wanted to see more of that.
