It means you should try to see a doctor and check for depression and/or physical issues.

OP of comment. I've had a partial hysterectomy and do have depression. So I'm not surprised at lowered hormones. Just not sure why it is still all I want to read.

I mean, I'm ace and love reading smut because I think it's entertaining. But! I'm also a disabled person who likes media about the kinds of activities I can't do anymore but used to enjoy. So I don't think it's strange that someone who no longer enjoys sex for any reason might still love smut for any reason. Sometimes reading about a thing you don't feel like doing is like... hey, I get to see someone else have all of the good parts and none of the bad parts of an activity I remember. Or even getting to see someone else deal with the bad parts while you don't have to!

It could just be a habit. My libido fluctuates a lot, but I still have mild sexual impulses when it's very low. Certain kinks and fiction is a "low effort" way to act it out.
