It IS really good!

I just read fic sometimes and see some activity on Twitter. It'll spice up when the next season airs.

You might want to watch The Talamasca. The reviews aren't awesome but it's the same universe.

took me a while to get on this show. it was (is!!!) amazing

that said, not only it's probably the first time i've wanted to fandom... asincronically (i mean, the last aired episode was over a year ago), but it's also the first time in YEARS i've felt like i want to, and discovered i don't even know how. tumblr is a stranger to me nowadays, and i tried to check on insta but it is somehow more deranged than other fandom spaces.

anyway, great show!

Definitely my favorite show and one of the best I've ever seen. Yet more than any other fandom I've been a part of, I strongly recommend anyone new looking to join to carefully curate your feeds and friends lists. You're probably best off sticking with fanfic/vids/art and not actually interacting with anyone or producing meta or whatever. Some sections of the fandom are more toxic than the mass-murdering vampires they claim to love.

It started off slow for me but I'm getting into it.

In terms of being an adaptation of the book(s) to the letter, it's not all that great. (My junior year English paper was on Anne Rice.) Some people put importance on faithfulness.

But in terms of capturing the SPIRIT of the source material, it blows the movies out of the water and then some, and the changes make the story so much better in my eyes. Season 3 can't get here soon enough, even if Season 2 tore my heart with no apology.

Agreed. And since so many of the book purist/movie fan criticisms seem to be racist and homophobic, well, I have to wonder how much of it actually has to do with staying true to the story…

I couldn't get into it, not because the show is bad, but because I just can't watch toxic people. But tumblr have been showing me so much great fanart

I think the show is very well done (when news came out first about the cast I was HIGHLY sceptical because they didn't reveal how they'd change the character to fit the race swap) but what they made of it worked really well. I watched the first season but couldn't really make it any farther because I can't stand any of the characters except for Daniel and one character isn't enough for me to suffer through a show where everyone else sucks or is annoying. But it IS a great show.
