The Sims is a game for kids and losers. If you have a real life of your own, you don't feel the need to live a fake one in a game. Adults who play it are trying to make up for something they don't have in reality.

I've never met anyone who thought they'd make a compelling self-insert character that was interesting enough to be correct about that.

Then again, I suppose people who are actually exciting don't sit around writing self-insert fic. No shade for the people who do it for fun privately.

I'm normie AF too. Can't fathom why some people think their self-inserts would interest anybody other than themselves and post to fic sites though.

I hope Opalite is the next TLOAS single! I love that song so much, I have adored it since first listen. Other contenders, IMO, are EliZabeth Taylor and the title track. I really hope the title track is a single too because it's a great song and I also like Sabrina. Is 4 singles too many to ask/hope for???

I think this is way off-base, but I’m mostly curious why OP (presumably) feels this way about The Sims but not the many other forms of escapist entertainment that involve playing out or getting invested in other people’s fake lives.
