What is your favorite media from 20+ years ago that has still held up?

(Anonymous) 2025-11-08 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)I've found a lot holds up but I'll give a shout out to Garfield & Friends. Had no expectation it would still be fucking hilarious.

Does Doctor Who count? I like a lot of the older stuff.
Definitely Buffy has held up, for the most part.
Twilight Zone, the original.
For movies, LOTR extended, Star Wars OT and PT (yes, they are all more than 20 years old), Lion King, Mulan, Jurassic Park, The Mummy 1 and 2, Event Horizon, Star Trek 2, 6, and 8, Galaxy Quest, Mystery Men.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-09 01:37 am (UTC)(link)For TV, Frasier and Northern Exposure.
Movies: For Halloween I rewatched Death Becomes Her and thought it was still so relevant and funny, despite the VFX looking a bit wonky now. The 90's version of The Substance!

I love that episode so much.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-09 01:40 am (UTC)(link)I still enjoy "Daria" a lot. I've picked up on nuances I didn't see when I was a teenager.
And related, "King of the Hill" has held up well.
I recently rewatched "The Secret Garden" (1993) and I adore how serious the film took the story. A gothic romance for kids. It was a beautiful film.

(Anonymous) 2025-11-09 02:02 am (UTC)(link)"Malcolm in the Middle" is still pretty damn good. I found Lois a riot as a kid. As an adult, just like being faced with understanding how much my mom took on now that I'm an adult filled with responsibilities, Lois is a great character. I also love how the show gets to know her parents and sister, you see how Lois is the way she is and it's kind of...funny that she's the least crazy one in her family. Even after her dad died, he's still creating chaos for Lois.
"The Adventures of Pete and Pete" and "Clone High" shaped my sense of humor a lot more than I realized.
Same with John Waters films like "Hairspray", "Cry-Baby" and "Serial Mom".
"The Bourne Identity" has held up well. I didn't think it would. I haven't watched the sequels in a long time though.
