I am mostly into cdramas these days, but I like British period dramas as well and in general period drama fandom circles, it's about evenly split. Some people are more hardcore about wanting historical accuracy, sticking to the canon if it's a book adaptation, etc. Some people just want to watch a fun show/movie with pretty dresses and they're okay with it being a little loosely interpreted for stylistic reasons, e.g. Bridgerton, Reign.

But on FS, people seem to skew towards "if you're cool you won't care about historical accuracy" and "caring about historical accuracy makes you a neeeeeeerrd but not in the awesome fandom way". It's a bit weird, because to me it's just fandom being fandom to care and squabble about the little details.
