I just watched my favorite streamer spend $89 trying to get an exclusive character in Genshin Impact. I know this happens all the time, but it kind of blows my mind to have sat and watched someone do it in real time. This is why I refuse to play gacha games and free to play games with predatory marketing tactics. It honestly makes me sick. I am afraid that all games are going to go in this direction in the future because it's so effective at separating people from their money.I guess if that really happens I'll simply stop playing new games, because I will NOT participate in this bullshit.

I found out about Tiktok shipping Regina George with Rodrick Heffley, and this has resparked my crack ship love

Rodrina makes a lot of sense (popular ice queen meets alternative cool guy in an enemies to lovers setup!!) and I adore the countless fake movie trailers I run across on YT

I wish so many people didn't automatically associate "vampire" with suave, brooding sexual dominance. I do like some vampire characters as tops and Doms. But I often find it a lot more interesting and hot when a vampire character's bloodlust is written as a kind of erotic neediness/eagerness/desperation that they try to suppress as much as possible.

I want more smutty vampire fiction that explores the vulnerability/submission elements of needing blood, craving blood, struggling not to lose control while feeding, struggling not to seem too needy or desperate or turned on by the whole thing.

Plus, the human LI character struggling with how erotic it is to be able to provide for and satiate the vampire in this way. How much they love doing it for them. How possessive they feel over being the one doing it for them. Etc.

The short version: I want more subby-bottom!Vampires.

I especially wish more fanfic AUs took this approach.

Tbh one of the reasons I am so blah over vampires is that they're always written as the sauve dommy type and that has just... never been my speed for male LI's specifically.

I don't need my fictional dudes to be super subby or anything, but the incredibly common alpha-dommy thing just does nothing for me, and either makes me uncomfortable depending on how rapey the vibes get or just downright fucking bore me. Oh he's dominant and controlling? Groundbreaking.

So yeah I might be into vamps more if they were written against-type, but as they're not [yawn] no thanks.

It’s not necessarily a favourite trope of mine, but when I like it, it’s exactly because it messes with consent within the context of the story. If I just wanted OOC fucking without that, there’s plenty of PWP fic with no plot reason for the sex.

(Also, I once put forward the tentative argument that sex pollen is to shipping/sex as “blood lusted” is to battleboarding/fights. There are definite gaps in the comparison, but it was fun to hammer out some of the finer points, especially when I had to try and explain sex pollen and fuck-or-die and other common fanfic tropes to battleboarder/powerscaler fans.)

I love it as a sexy prompt but I also love when it doesn't end with the people involved together (and when both are treated as victims).
