I can't really pinpoint what it is that had me feeling this way but there are a few songs used in YT shorts/Tiktoks that I cannot stand anymore. Even if it's a creator I like a lot, if I hear that goddamn Howl's Moving Castle song I instantly am in a foul mood and press the back button.

This only happens to a few songs. I don't know why some songs I can watch endless loops of while others I picked up a strong disdain toward.

Maybe you're sensitive to the repetition/oversaturation? Repeating songs can really irritate me. I can't stand some songs that I heard a few too many times when I worked retail, I can see a meme song being similar.

That track is the worst offender in the "cozy/cute japanese stuff!!" tiktok category. I wouldn't mind those videos if it weren't for the insufferable music choices

Ugh, for me it's when they use sped-up versions of songs; it's like nails on a chalkboard (ESPECIALLY if the song has vocals; I can't stand the chipmunkification of human voices). Instant mute, every single time.

The worst thing to happen to the fantasy literary genre was the publication of The Tough Guide to Fantasyland. It has just been recycling the same jokes the book made, only without the joke part, ever since.

Very familiar with the author, totally unfamiliar with the book. How interesting.

But all the tropes were already established and tired. That is literally the reason she wrote the book.

It’s worth noting that using and twisting tropes is perfectly fine and can even make for good reading if the author knows what they’re doing. She did that herself all the time even before writing this.

And a book can be entertaining without being a perfect/flawless work. An author can regurgitate every trope and still craft a story the audience can enjoy. Sort of like this one…

I think that podcasts with video are the worst. They are better without them.

Do you think that having the camera there makes the podcast worse? Or is it just that you prefer the audio-only format?

I generally prefer just audio, but my mother absolutely hates most audio-only talking media. It somehow makes a huge difference to her when she can see their faces.
