Right, and I'm suggesting the copy pasted portion happens because people who actually feel neutral-er about a topic don't go out of their way to have conversations about it because why bother when your main emotion is "mild shrug". Especially in fan spaces the ones with stronger opinions are more likely to be talking about topics at all.

they could be hoping people could have reasonable discussions where they can disagree with one another in a respectful way instead of leaping right to insults

i find taylor swift fascinating as a phenomenon more than her personally or her music. i don't have strong feelings about her or her music but it's just interesting to me how people are so invested in her both positive and negative

a lot of people probably talk/think about her more than they would otherwise just because she's one of the biggest celebrities in the world and right now is getting a lot of attention since she just got engaged and had a new album come out.

I have no feelings on Taylor Swift whatsoever, I didn't know she was engaged and don't have any feelings on that either, I'm completely out of the loop.

But I've seen enough fan discussions to know that if a fan discussion about a person- as opposed to a song or a movie or some work they produced- is happening at all, it's going to lean vehement by nature either positive or negative, is all. Most people who respectfully disagree with squeeing fans simply don't post to them, because why bother to bring negativity, and same with fans who respectfully disagree with people who are stating their dislike, because why bother starting an argument... unless you feel strongly enough to do so, and the conversation starts from there
