Aw. Honestly I hated where the show took John. In the beginning, he was still a terrible father, but he was trying to do things right, he just didn't know how. And then the show took him further and further and I don't think he was the same character they made him to be in the beginning. In the first few seasons he was complex and interesting.

? John was present in only the first season + the first couple of episodes of season 2. He did have a cameo on the last Ep of season 2 and in season 14 (the episodes Lebanon) if i'm not mistaken.

Now, the Brothers talk about him during the whole series. Dean become very disillusioned about his childhood and refer to the being abused more or less explicitly, but he still really loves him. Sam mellows out a lot about him and basically totally forgives him by the end.

Like the biggest smear about the character is him having a son without telling Sam and Dean (Adam). A son to whom he tried to be a decent father and kept in the dark about the hunting world.

Am i missing something? How did the show took him further and further in tour opinion? (Honest question. I'm curious)
