That also makes me hate them if they already are a villain. Main reason I couldn't get into Berserk and Griffith in particular even though that character would have been right up my alley otherwise.

I don't mind it from a villain per say, though sometimes I don't like it. But what I don't like is the narrative justifying it or excusing it.
