GUH. I love the Abyss fandom. >:

#4 poster

...probably because you're a newb. IT USED TO BE GOLDEN. It was so much fun. Even generic posts were cool. But now that the fandom's a little bigger, a generic post is a generic post.

Newsflash:

YOU CAN'T KEEP FANDOMS TO YOURSELF.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-18 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
NEWFLASH: You can put it on my friends page, but you can't make me like it.

ALL CAPS IS FUNNY BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU LOOK PRETENTIOUS.

Additionally, I don't want to keep it to myself. I just want less boring, same-old posts. IS THIS A CRIME?

[identity profile] boooon.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
The caps - I guess I was just put off the way you spoke to my friend. Sorry about that.

And I understand about what you were saying. Overexposure can be really frustrating - for example, there are pairings I've been a fan of up until they exploded to the point of indecency, repetitiveness, and badfic, and all of that.

There are, though, people who DO wish to keep fandoms to themselves and their tight groups of friends. That's something uncool, at least I think. D: so no~ I don't think your desire is a crime. XD I agreed with your secret anyway.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-18 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
oh, good, I'm glad. I didn't mean to insult either of you guys with "newb," I only really meant "new to the fandom." I probably should've worded it less offensively. Anyways, yeah, I totally agree with you.

I've never run into a fandom where that happens. Eeew, I can't even imagine...

[identity profile] boooon.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, I've met a few ToA fans who've snapped at me because I dare RP the character they RP, or that too many people like their favorite character. What.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-18 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
That's really horrible. Man, I'm sorry you had to experience that.

[identity profile] boooon.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
It's cool~! Means I have a brain and they don't 8F

[identity profile] ex-discover.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
:[ lol Awful presumptuous of them, huh? Wow.
imugi: ([jo; tsukasa] huh...?;)

[personal profile] imugi 2007-04-18 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I dislike that sort of attitude. New people coming into the fandom doesn't "ruin" it. "Newer" people aren't any less intelligent than "older" ones. And no one's better for having been in a fandom longer than someone else. It's a relatively new game as it is, isn't it?

And you can't make presumptions like that when you don't even know the person you're accusing.

Your opinions have value and sense to them, but please try to be more careful and considerate next time...

Additionally, I don't want to keep it to myself. I just want less boring, same-old posts. IS THIS A CRIME?
Sometimes, reading posts in a thread can help. I never said anything about ruining. I never said any of that. I have no idea where you got it.

Wow, uh, you don't know me either? Niiice. Maybe I do know her. I have the right to remain anonymous, though, so I'm not going to say either way. At the very least I must have some info on her due to the fact that she's a registered user and I can look at her info and stuff, but you on the other hand... you're accusing some anonymous person you've seen comment, what, a few times of being presumptuous. Apparently without reading the comments thoroughly.

I am much more careful and considerate than you are, in my opinion.
imugi: ([jo; tsukasa] lost in thought;)

[personal profile] imugi 2007-04-18 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
? ?

Sorry, I wasn't directly quoting you. And I wasn't trying to attack you, either. I just thought you could have been nicer about it... People seem to take "newb" as an insult, and I wouldn't like it much myself if that comment was directed at me.

I just don't see why people need to be categorized that way at all, rather than us all just enjoying it as it is. And if it's not that great now, like you said, then maybe someone will do something about it. I want more out of some fandoms, too.

Anyway, if I offended you, I am sorry. Like I said, it wasn't meant to be offensive. The hostility isn't really necessary.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-18 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
When people quote, they usually quote something. And there was nothing at all in this post that you seemed to be quoting, and those weren't the ideas I was trying to express at all, so I got a little defensive. I'm sorry.

Uh, I already explained that I didn't mean anything bad about it...?

The only reason I've categorized them at all, by saying "newb" or "newer to the fandom" was to say that perhaps they haven't looked back through all the posts of the community, seeing as it's reeeally large now. I thought it was better at the beginning, because like I said before, even generic posts were cool - because they were posts period. Now that the fandom is a little bigger, it's a little annoying to have what looks like the same post again and again.

Hmm, sorry. I just hate being called presumptuous, and I can't imagine why anyone would like it. I hope this is civil?
imugi: ([tlk; simba] if you could only see;)

[personal profile] imugi 2007-04-18 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
It was probably a little presumptuous on my part, also. So I apologize, too. I suppose I can't really say if you know her yourself or not since you are anonymous-- but I do, and you can't really decide how long a person has been in a fandom by them stating that they like it, or by their interests.

So it just appeared that you were jumping to conclusions. Sorry about that.

Yeah... I can admit enough that fandoms seem to be better when they're a little smaller. I guess you just try to take those things in stride. I'm sure things might clear out a little if the initial popularity boost wears off, or someone can try initiating something else for a change.

Sorry for meeting on such strained circumstances, even if I don't know who you are.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-18 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Like you stated, I already said I may or may not know her, but don't want to reveal it due to the fact that I'd like to remain anonymous. But to be completely honest and lose an aspect of my anonymity, you are the one jumping to conclusions here because I know she has not been in the fandom forever & I'm not just establishing that from interests or her stating that she likes it. So I have no idea why you are accusing me once again when you have no information on me or know who my flist is?

Uhh, yeah, these circumstances do kinda suck.
imugi: ([toa; luke] wondering;)

[personal profile] imugi 2007-04-18 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
No no, you just used it as your argument earlier, so. I wasn't accusing you. Like I said, it was partially presumptuous of me because I don't know who your flist is.

No hard feelings, I hope.

(Anonymous) 2007-04-18 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
oh, sorry, I totally didn't realize what you meant. I am horrible. You can ignore me now, for serious.
