Re: "Taylor Swift is a Nazi" campaign was a coordinated attack

this doesn't surprise me either. i think a lot of the really over-the-top 'leftist' narratives you see are exactly this - bad actors trying to make leftists look like they're overreacting to everything. i figured a lot of the taylor swift content in particular was people going clicks because anything, positive or negative, about her will get you a ton of views

i have seen this kind of thing before. the problem with calling something a dogwhistle is that there is no way to disprove it. because if you try to defend or deny you are told that dogwhistles are deliberately vague so that there is plausible deniability. so that means you can call literally anything a dogwhistle and insist that it is because you said so and if someone doesn't see it, they're wrong

that's not to say that there aren't real legitimate dogwhistles because of course there are. but at the same time, it's really easy for someone to declare that something is one, when it really isn't

Reminds me of that time the "ok" symbol was supposedly a nazi thing. Like, bullshit. Maybe they're using it but they can't have it. Give them an inch and they'll take claim the peace sign.
