Wait, I think I know that story! We did a class reading of it in my seventh grade English class, I think, and then I read it again on my own later because I liked it so much. Isn't that the story where this kid runs away to this house where a year passes every day?

Wait, but is it only me or Ghibli have never really done good book adaptations? I mean yes, they're fine movies on their own and all -and I liked their Howl's Moving Castle- but they don't adapt the books' main plots quite well and have barely a resemblance to the original story and characters and tone. I've always thought they do better with original scripts, but Western fantasy books...? Not better than any other movie studio.

Oh shiiiiiit THAT BOOK THAT BOOK THAT BOOK I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I have the worst amount of love ever for Jive, I don't even know why. But yes, DO WANT THIS, anytime. Even if Ghibli changed it to make it their own, which I'm sure they would -- I'd love to see what they (or anyone else!) could do with it!
