Since when did pointing out that there exists in fandom an anti-man sentiment in some quarters equate to jonesing for attention from The Man? (Unless pointing out there's an anti-woman sentiment in some parts is kissing up to NOW? I hadn't thought of it that way - at least it's not why I'd do it. *shrug*)

At any rate, I would hope the original secret is a troll, but I do know of some actual LJ users who probably believe this. And that's sad. :-/

Man, I don't think it's a troll. I just think it's someone who saw the wrong side of how brutal fandom can be sometimes. With the amount of emotional manipulation fic I read, it's surprising I'm not seeing it everywhere, too. >>

But I really get annoyed with so many people commenting on anon. I just. Ffff. You think someone is one person and they aren't and just how hard is it to sockpuppet. I haven't done it in ages, but if I don't want something connected to me, I have a sockpuppet on which I journal regularly, just to get away from the name, yanno? It's there for all my commenting needs.

Really. It is just. Way unnecessarily complicated. /dies You don't know which one to reply to, because you have a comment thread of anons that LOOKS like one person, but is actually three different people holding one conversation.

The anonymice don't bother me so much UNTIL they get up on their Footstool O'Soapbox and start railing about the oppressed and downtrodden and injustice - and doing it as nastily as possible. If you just want to leave a regular old comment or have a laugh at something or even take the piss out of someone for a secret that doesn't contain anything very important, well, OK - be anonymous. But when you purport to be Speaking For The Voiceless On An Important Issue, you should at least use the fake Internet name you gave yourself. It's unlikely Homeland Security is going to track you down for it. *G*
